The location our team focused was, Bordentown. The main problem was overbooking and not allocating enough cars on the lot. Customers will place a reservation for a vehicle and a date to receive that. When it is time to the vehicle customers arrived at the branch with the uncertainty that the vehicle is available.
First, we recommend Enterprise to update their online booking system. After a certain amount of reservations, the booking system should max out reservations to eliminate waiting, transportation, and too much motion. Where this controls both systems online for customers and for the company as well. It keeps not only the employees but the customers up to date to which cars are available for a customer to book. Not only that, but the system for the employees also gives us notice when the car needs to be worked on and/or is ready for the next customer to rent out. This solution will allow the service to be more efficient.
Secondly, we recommend Enterprise to incorporate safety stock inventory to allocate for demand. This method will allow enough vehicles plus some inventory left over to eliminate the uncertainty of not fully reserving the car for the next customer. This will prepare the branch for times of high demand and provide excellent customer service.
